Counseling provides many benefits, including learning more about yourself, exploring how events have affected you, gaining knowledge on how to manage difficult situations and emotions, and obtaining peace and self-confidence. The end goal is for you to be able to do all of this on your own!
This depends on the presenting problem and also the goals that a person has .Some individuals and families need only 6-12 sessions for specific issues or 20 or more sessions for more complex matters. I usually meet with people once a week for the first couple of months in order to obtain necessary history and information and to develop a treatment plan. As progress is made, this may change to biweekly, monthly, or as-needed sessions.

During sessions, we will go over current issues and we may talk about how they relate to your life history, discuss any insight you have gained from previous sessions or homework, and/or we may practice some techniques and strategies so that you know how to do them outside of sessions. Every session will look different, but each one is for and about you!
